すばらしいファンタジーの世界、非常に心に残る作品。年長さんの読み聞かせには長めの絵本だが、読み聞かせ後、息子からは「面白かった。」とのコメントをもらった。自分の宝物をそっと大事にしまっておきたい気持ち、そんな主人公に共感したのではないだろうか。
かおるが見つけた片足のみの小さな黄色いながぐつ。赤ちゃんのかな？かおるはそれが日に日に大きくなっていく事に気が付く。自分の足が入る大きさになり、足を入れると体半分だけ消えた。どんどん大きくなり物置小屋に隠した。と、そこへ友達が来たので長靴のなかに入って全身を消してニヤニヤした。が、次の日は逆に小さくなっていた。小指サイズになったころ、木の箱に入れ机の引き出しにしまった。
